How it works
A licensed HYG 4.1 bright-star subset is loaded only on this page. Linear proper motion advances J2000 vectors to the selected epoch; Astronomy Engine rotates them into the observer's horizontal system. An azimuthal equidistant chart places the zenith at the center and geometric horizon at its edge. Solar-system coordinates are computed topocentrically. All calculations run in your browser.
Geometric altitude and azimuth at the chosen city, date and time. HYG 4.1 stars use J2000 positions with linear proper motion and precession/nutation; stellar parallax, aberration, refraction, terrain and weather are not included. Solar-system positions are topocentric without refraction. Dots are not to scale. Do not use this chart to observe the Sun without certified protection.
